July 21, 2020 UPDATE

I was just informed by my prior oncologist that my cancer has a very rare genetic change which occurs in less than 5% of colorectal cancers. Instead of having 2 copies of a certain gene, there are over 200 copies which is likely to tell the cancer to grow and divide. There are small studies where breast cancer drugs have been used to treat this type of cancer.

NO ONE EVER TOLD ME. MY SURGERY WAS OVER 1 MONTH AGO. MY PRIOR ONCOLOGIST HAS NOT COMMUNICATED WITH ME SINCE MY FIRST WEEKEND IN THE HOSPITAL.

This issue came up because my new oncologist asked my old oncologist about genetic testing of the tumor – he could not find the report in my file.

I’VE ALREADY LEFT HIS CARE – WHY WAS I NEVER TOLD?! NO EXCUSE. MY BODY MY BODY MY BODY – MY CANCER – MY RIGHT TO KNOW – MY NEED TO KNOW TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ABOUT MY HEALTH!!!
