Yesterday I had my first infusion of the new drugs. It went badly. I was given Benadryl to calm any potential allergic reaction and had a “restless leg” reaction that, I was told, happens to some people. The nurse recommended I not be given Benadryl again. Then, near the end of the Herceptin, I threwContinue reading “April 7, 2021”

I just got my latest CEA (that’s a tumor marker in the blood). It’s slightly elevated which means increased tumor activity. My tumor marker has been less than 0.5 for months which is the lowest value blood tests show. I’ve been off the tough drugs since December and now the CEA is 0.6. An experiencedContinue reading “February 12, 2021”

Great news! Got my test results today – ALL NEGATIVE!!! No inflammation. Blood work is excellent. Here’s what seems to be happening: the chemo pill can cause the side effect I’m experiencing (muscle/joint pain). My symptoms got much worse while taking the chemo pill but started before. (Almost) Happy New Year – I hope it’s a happy new year! I remember where I was last year at this time and it looks nothing like where I am now. Everything is different – work, home, health. Crazy. Had a big scare – BIG – this week. I had a visiting nurse for chemoContinue reading “December 27, 2020”

I’m in chemo now. They took me off Irinotecan because I’ve been so sick on it (I’ve been in bed for about 10 days straight after each session with severe nausea, hot flashes and no energy/ability to move, severe headaches, itchy points on skin, confusion, pink urine, runny nose, more hair loss than usual, horribleContinue reading “December 9, 2020”

July 21, 2020 UPDATE

I was just informed by my prior oncologist that my cancer has a very rare genetic change which occurs in less than 5% of colorectal cancers. Instead of having 2 copies of a certain gene, there are over 200 copies which is likely to tell the cancer to grow and divide. There are small studiesContinue reading “July 21, 2020 UPDATE”
